Who you’ll see in Loughton
About hay fever
In Loughton, a GP looks at your symptoms and triggers, either by video or in clinic, to check it really is hay fever. It's ruled apart from a cold, sinus infection or non-allergic rhinitis, and stronger treatment can be arranged if pharmacy antihistamines haven't worked. Stronger options — steroid nasal sprays, eye drops or a short oral course — are agreed with you. See our national page at /conditions/hay-fever/ for more.
About hay fever
Hay fever happens when the body reacts allergically to pollen, inflaming the nose, eyes, throat and sinuses. Typical symptoms are sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, itchy and watery eyes, and an itchy throat or ears, usually worse when pollen counts rise. It ranges from a mild seasonal irritation to something disruptive enough to interfere with sleep, work or school.
What happens in the appointment
A hay fever appointment in Loughton covers your symptoms and triggers, by video or in clinic, ruling out other causes first.
