Who you’ll see in Loughton
About sinusitis
A GP appointment in Loughton covers your symptoms and how long they've lasted, by video or in clinic, working out whether sinusitis is viral or bacterial. Worth booking if symptoms have lasted more than 10 days without improving, you have severe facial or eye pain, a high temperature, or things worsen after improving. Treatment — antibiotics or a steroid spray where appropriate — is agreed with you that day. See /conditions/sinusitis/ for the full picture.
About sinusitis
Sinusitis is when the sinuses — the air-filled spaces behind the nose, cheeks and forehead — become inflamed, often after a cold or other viral infection. Expect facial pain or pressure, a blocked or runny nose, less sense of smell, and sometimes a night-time cough. Most cases are viral and resolve within two to three weeks unaided, with bacterial cases sometimes requiring treatment if they don't settle.
