Who you’ll see in Chichester
About sinusitis
In Chichester, seeing a GP — by video or in person — means a review of your symptoms and their duration, to decide whether the cause is viral or bacterial. It's worth being seen for symptoms beyond 10 days without improvement, severe pain around the face or eyes, a high fever, or a relapse after getting better. Where needed, antibiotics or a steroid spray are agreed with you the same day. Full detail is on /conditions/sinusitis/.
About sinusitis
Inflammation of the sinuses — the air-filled spaces behind the nose, cheeks and forehead — is called sinusitis, and it often follows a cold. It typically causes facial pain or pressure, a blocked or runny nose, a reduced sense of smell, and sometimes a cough that worsens at night. Viral cases are most common and usually clear within two to three weeks, though bacterial sinusitis occasionally needs antibiotics.
