Who you’ll see in Beaconsfield
About ear infection
Seeing a GP in Beaconsfield means an ear examination in clinic, or a video review of your symptoms, to establish whether it's middle-ear or outer-ear. See a GP if pain lasts more than 3 days, there's discharge from the ear, a high temperature, hearing loss that isn't improving, or infections keep recurring. Where antibiotics or ear drops are needed, they're agreed with you the same day. Full detail is on our national page at /conditions/ear-infection/.
About ear infections
Ear infections can affect the middle ear (behind the eardrum) or the outer ear canal, with different underlying causes for each. Expect ear pain, a sense of blockage, mild hearing loss and sometimes discharge or a mild fever. Children often get middle-ear infections following a cold, while outer-ear infections are more often linked to moisture or irritation getting into the canal.
What happens in the appointment
