Who you’ll see in Cobham
About ear infection
Seeing a GP in Cobham means an ear examination in clinic, or a video review of your symptoms, to establish whether it's middle-ear or outer-ear. Worth booking if ear pain has lasted more than three days, there's any discharge, a high temperature, persistent hearing loss, or repeated infections. Where antibiotics or ear drops are needed, they're agreed with you the same day. Full detail is on our national page at /conditions/ear-infection/.
About ear infections
Ear infections can affect the middle ear (behind the eardrum) or the outer ear canal, with different underlying causes for each. Expect ear pain, a sense of blockage, mild hearing loss and sometimes discharge or a mild fever. Children often get middle-ear infections following a cold, while outer-ear infections are more often linked to moisture or irritation getting into the canal.
What happens in the appointment
