Who you’ll see in Hitchin
About thrush treatment
Thrush is assessed in Hitchin by reviewing your symptoms and history — an examination is only needed if the diagnosis isn't clear. Your GP explains the diagnosis clearly and sets out the right treatment for you. Antifungal treatment, where clinically indicated, is agreed with you that day. See our national page at /conditions/thrush/ for more.
About thrush
Thrush is a common yeast infection caused by an overgrowth of Candida, most often affecting the genital area but also the mouth and skin folds. Typical symptoms include itching, soreness, a thick white discharge (in genital thrush), and redness or irritation of the affected area. It's not usually serious and often responds well to antifungal treatment, though recurrent thrush is worth discussing with a GP.
