Who you’ll see in Hitchin
About uti treatment
A GP in Hitchin reviews your symptoms and medical history, by video or in clinic, to reach a clear diagnosis. Worth seeing a GP sooner if symptoms last more than two days, you have pain in your lower back or side, a fever above 38°C, blood in your urine, or more than two UTIs a year. If antibiotics are indicated, treatment is agreed with you that day. See our national page at /conditions/uti/ for more.
About UTIs
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is a bacterial infection affecting the bladder, urethra or, less commonly, the kidneys. Common symptoms include a burning sensation when urinating, needing to urinate more often or urgently, cloudy or strong-smelling urine, and discomfort in the lower abdomen. Most UTIs affecting the bladder are straightforward to treat, though kidney infections need more urgent attention.
